Areas of Application
Handguard Handwash can be used for surgical hand wash and body wash.
Directions for use:
1. Surgical hand wash: Pour 5 ml (approx. 3 pushes) of Handguard Hand wash over wet hands scrub and wash for 2 minutes.
2. Body washing: On the patient wet body, take sufficient amount of Handwash and rinse thoroughly and dry.
Mode of action:
Chlorhexidine has the unique ability to bind to the proteins present in human tissues such as skin and mucous membranes with limited systemic or bodily absorption. Protein bound chlorhexidine releases slowly leading to prolonged activity. This phenomenon is known as substantively and allows for a longer duration of antimicrobial action against a broad spectrum of bacteria and fungi.
In fact, chlorhexidine's antimicrobial activity has been documented to last at least 48 hours on the skin.14Unlike povidone-iodine, chlorhexidine is not affected by the presence of body fluids such as blood.
Chlorhexidine has also been applied to medical devices such as dental implants, vascular catheters, needleless connectors and antimicrobial dressings. Chlorhexidine, when applied to or impregnated in medical devices kills organisms and protects against microbial colonization and subsequently biofilm development.
Precaution:
Avoid direct contact with eyes.
Do not mix with any other chemicals or detergents.
Flush with fresh water in case of eye contact.
